Published in Monett Times (Monett, Missouri) and Cassville Republican (Cassville, Missouri) 18 August 1938 (Note: Gravestone shows year of death as 1937.)
Death came suddenly Saturday night, August 13 to Joe M. Beymer, well known farmer and stockman of Kings Prairie east of Monett. Mr. Beymer had been suffering with heart disease for several months but had been able to be up and around the place. Saturday night Mr. and Mrs. Beymer came to Monett, returning home about 9:30 o'clock. On their way home Mr. Beymer suffered a heart attack, and as soon as Mrs. Beymer and her son could get him to bed they called Dr. Will Smith of Aurora. Nothing could be done for him and he died a few minutes after the doctor arrived.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at New Liberty Methodist Protestant church on Kings Prairie under the direction of an Aurora undertaker. Burial was in the church cemetery beside the grave of his first wife. Joe M. Beymer was born August 6, 1864 at Hartford City, Indiana, the son of James H. and Margaret E. Beymer. He was the oldest of ten children. The family came to Missouri in 1886 and located in Kings Prairie township east of Monett.
Mr. Beymer was married September 24, 1896 to Miss Josephine Tate, who died November 25, 1931. On May 13, 1937 he was married to Mrs. Delia Meyer who survives him.
Mr. Beymer was known for his energy and industry. For a number of years he lived on the Mrs. Caroline Jones farm east of town and conducted a dairy business. Later he purchased a farm south of the Kings Prairie Union church and built a concrete residence. He raised blooded Herefords for a time. Of late years he had been engaged in farming only. He was a member of the New Liberty church, an honest and good citizen.
He is survived by his widow, a half-sister, Mrs. Ella Craig, of Wayne; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Draper of Kansas City, Kansas and Mrs. W. L. Howard of Monett, and one brother, C. R. Beymer, of Cassville.
