Also survived by son Irving Hopkins Benson of Chicago, grandson Egbert H. Benson of Rockford, IA and relatives Carl Tillinghast of Chicago and Miss Beatrice Tillinghast of Guthrie Center, Guthrie Co., Iowa.
Married 1870 Sarah Emily Hopkins at Dover Plains, NY.
In 1873 they moved to Clinton Co., Iowa where they farmed until 1884 when they moved to Floyd Co. near Rockford, IA.

Egbert was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Temple at Clinton, Iowa.
