Conrad May came to America when he was 11, in 1865. Once here, he learned cabinetmaking, and then the furniture trade. At age 23, he formed his own business.
i. Initially, it was at Clay and Austin Streets, Buffalo, NY.
ii. Then he expanded it, to Dearborn and Austin Streets, Buffalo.
iii. Then, he located it at 1875 Niagara Street, Buffalo, NY.
iv. Later, he also was the President of the Black RockóRiverside Savings and Loan Association.
He married Mary Margaret Keller on October 29, 1878. Together they had the following children:

2. Frances T. May Schneggenburger (1881-1914)
3. Mary Catherine May Baumgarten (1882-1955)
4. George Francis May (1884-1950)
5. Edward Isidore May (1886-1966)
6. Isidore Francis May (1889-1958)
7. Conrad "Nootzie" May (1891-1897)
Conrad's Will probated on 20 May 1941 in Buffalo. The Heirs were his five surviving children and the four children of his daughter Frances.
