Joyce Ward Melville, 72, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 6, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Melvin Butcher and Lovena Schofield Butcher. Joyce was raised in Green River, Wyoming, and attended schools there with her 14 brothers and sisters.

She married Doul Ross Benson they later divorced. She married Fred B. Melville and they later divorced. She met her soul-mate William J. Ward and they were married on October 2, 1993, and again August 9, 2003, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Joyce was a mother, a social chemist (bartender), waitress and the best domestic engineer. She played as hard as she worked. She enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, playing the lotto, fishing, reading, dancing and listening to music, gardening and she especially enjoyed being with her family.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her door was always open, food on the table, and the coffee on. She will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Maxine Butcher and brothers, Norman, Don, Glen, Larry, David and Lloyd Butcher.


Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services, both at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
