Versie Lillian Cowles, 95, of Oakland, died at 10:10 p.m. Dec. 19, 2009, at her home.
The Edmonson County native was a homemaker and a member of Otter Gap Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late S.B. Jaggers and Laura Masterson Jaggers, and the wife of the late Bacle Cowles. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Houchins and two brothers, Willard and Estil "Wendy" Jaggers.
Funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Otter Gap Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green chapel.

Survivors include two daughters, Wilda Alford and her husband, Ronell, of Bowling Green, and Jessie Graham and her husband, Ralph, of Louisville; a son, William B. Cowles and his wife, Dora, of Oakland; five grandchildren; Jackie Alford, Meloney McMillian and her husband, Joe, Becky Brannan and her husband, Todd, DeWayne Cowles and his wife, Leigh Anne, and Sheri Jones and her husband, Josh; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew Alford, and his wife, Jenny, Austin and Taelor McMillian, Anna Jones, Chance and Mattie Cowles and Brett Brannan; and several nieces and nephews.
