Russian ballet conductor and artist. In 1906 he graduated from the School of Music in Kiev, and then joint Moscow Conservatory as a violin G.N. Dulova. Since 1906, a violinist and concert master of various orchestras, in 1909-1910 concert master and conductor of the Riga Opera, 1914-1915 - in the Zimin Opera Orchestra Artist (Moscow), 1916 - concertmaster there. For the first time was for the panel of the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra in 1916 (his debut in the ballet Coppelia L. Deliba with Quiz Krieger in the title role, and from 1923 to 1963 chief conductor of the Bolshoi ballet performances (succeeded by the famous ballet conductor A. Arendsa). People's Artist of USSR. Stalin Prize winner (1941, 1946, 1947, 1950). He included more than fifty ballets, including the first time they conducted, and his name is largely associated with the development of ballet in the Soviet period.
