Virgie Honeycutt was born in June 1890 in Johnson County, KY, to parents Nathan Honeycutt and Amanda Hitchcock Honeycutt. She married Leander A "Lee" Phelps, who predeceased her in 1959.
Virgie died 16 July 1970, after suffering a long-term illness. Survivors include a son from New Albany, Ind., James Phelps; one daughter, Mrs. John G. Sammons of West Van Lear; five sisters, Mrs. Cora Wells and Mrs. Nora Delong, both of Van Lear, Mrs. Bradley Webb of South Shore, Mrs. Mary Wells from Lincoln Park, Mich., and Mrs. Bertha Collins of Auxier.
Virgie was buried in the Richmond Cemetery at Paintsville on July 19, 1970, following a funeral service in the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
