C. Orval Best, 69, of Franklin RD 2, died at 8 a.m. today, June 25, in his home following an extended illness. Born on June 9, 1919, in Turnip Hole, Clarion County, he was the son of Charles H. and Emma Kemery Best. He had lived at his present address for the past 37 years. Mr. Best was employed as a machinist at Joy Manufacturing Company for 35 years, retiring in September 1977. He was a member of Cranberry United Methodist Church. On October 30, 1940, he was married to the former Patricia Amsler, of Wentlings Corners, and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Kenneth Best, of Oil City, Ronald E. Best, of Franklin, and Walter M. Best, of Emlenton; three daughters, Joyce Best, of Oil City, Mrs. Paul (Joan) Irwin, of Oil City, and Vickie Resinger, of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Viola Harkless, of Irwin; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Armand Best, two brothers, Cloyde and Clarence Best, two sisters, Helen Best and Louella Brenneman, and two great-grandsons. Jonathan H. Hutchinson Funeral Home, Oil City, is handling arrangements. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. David Parker, pastor of Cranberry United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Callensburg Cemetery.
