| Birth: | Jan. 16, 1911 | | Death: | Jan. 22, 1982 |  Chilean Lawyer and Politician. Coming from Catholic Youths, he founded and he presided the "Falange Nacional". He was Public Work senator, minister and president of the country in period 1964-1970. In the elections of 1970 he was defeated by Salvador Allende. Visible head from the opposition to the government of Popular Unit (1970-1973), he supported the military coup, but he went moving away progressively of the regime, until the point in 1980 he directed the boycott to the constitutional referendum summoned by Pinochet. His death happened in mysterious circumstances, in which presumably agents of the military government would have taken part. At the moment this is investigated in Courts.
