Hannah Myfanwy "Van" Williams was the 10th of 12 children born to William David Williams, a Mormon Pioneer from Wales, and Alice Melvina Clark. Van was born 9 June 1900 in St. Anthony, Fremont, Idaho and married 9 June 1920 in the Logan LDS Temple to Charles Vernon Palmer, son of John Adelbert and Amelia Susan McMillan Palmer. They were the parents of five children, only four of whom reached adulthood:
Harriet Yvonne, Baby daughter (1923), Beth Ileen, John William, and Stanley Edlin. They raised their children in Teton and Tyhee (Pocatello) Idaho.
An early death from cancer took Van at the age of 40 years, 4 months, 8 days, on 19 October 1941 in Pocatello, Bannock, Idaho, leaving her 4 living children motherless. Her husband took a second wife, a widow named Verna Lenroot Rane, to wife in 1943.
