Richard Alan Bridges, 65, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland with burial following in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM Wednesday and 9 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Alan was born on June 5, 1947, in Mendon, LA the son of the late Herman and Julia Bridges. A lifelong resident of Jackson, he graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School. After graduation, Alan accepted a position with the country music artist, Joe Stampley, where he served as his music manager for several years. A businessman, he owned and operated the Delta Feed & Seed Store in Jackson for 18 years, as well as several children's carnival rides, traveling throughout the United States with Farrow Amusements. Alan worked as a salesman for many companies, most recently for Johnston Seed Company of Ashburn, GA. He was the most wonderful, genuine, kind, loving, caring and compaaionate man, husband, father and friend I have ever known. As a salesman, his love, respect, compassion and concern for each of his clients, went much deeper and above and beyond the call of duty. They were his family and ours as well. Survivors include: his wife, Kim Bridges of Jackson; daughter, Jamie Gresham and her husband Ben of Brentwood, CA; daughter, Kayla Calhoun of Starkville; son, Clint Bridges of Jackson; brother, John D. Bridges of Austin, TX; sisters, Angie Buchannan and her husband Doug of Plano, TX; Patricia Thomas and her husband Donald of Jackson; Barbara Bridges of Jackson; nephew, John Wolff; nieces, Abbi and Mary Jo Thomas all of Jackson; grandchildren, Gavin and Alyssa Gresham, Mayce Miller and Paige Hall.
