On 22 Aug 1867, Mary married Elias Roy "Leroy" Alger in Page County, Virginia. Elias was a farmer and former civil war confederate soldier... As a side note, Mary's sister, Reffina, would marry Elias' brother, William, a week later.
According to Mary Frances' 1900 census, the couple parented a total of 15 children, of which only 9 had survived up to that point. The only records I was able to find identifying their children were for the 9 that survived, which are: Mary, John, Ada, Amanda, Thomas, Lydia, Rachel, Lucy and Charles, who were all raised in Page County, Virginia.
Both Mary and Elias were unable to read or write, much like their ancestors. Most of the time, when it came to recording information from those who were illiterate, the determination of how to spell their names was often left up to the person taking the information. For this reason, Elias' (and Mary's married) surname appears as Alger, Algier and Algie and Mary's birth surname appears as Pettit, Petit and Petis in various documentations. This is commonly how many family surnames became so diverse in both spelling and pronunciation over several generations, as the earliest documentation I find of Elias' surname was spelled Algar and the earliest documentation I find of Mary's birth surname was spelled Padgett.
Elias passed away at approximately 75 years of age in 1913, leaving Mary a widow. Mary would later move to Belle Vernon, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where she resided with the family of their daughter, Amanda, until she passed away at about 85 years of age on 8 Feb 1937. Unfortunately, no more is known about Elias, but Mary was buried alongside her daughter, Amanda, in Belle Vernon.

All pertinent information I have included here can be verified by U.S. Federal Census Records for the family in conjunction with various public records, including any documents I may upload to this memorial.
Though I can not prove with 100% certainty that this family's composition and relation status is as I display it to be, I can say that the circumstantial evidence weighs very heavily in favor of the accuracy of these stated familial connections.
