Bernice Janet Crabtree
Bernice Janet Crabtree, 88, of Neosho, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at her home, following a sudden illness.
She was born March 5, 1924, in Seneca, Missouri, to Fred Norman Sherer and Iva Pearl (Hays) Sherer.
Mrs. Crabtree lived most of her life in the southwest Missouri area. She was an all-star basketball player for Seneca High School, where she graduated in 1942.
She worked in payroll at the former Camp Crowder during WWII.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, and a committee woman for the Republican Party.
She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards, traveling and reading. She was loved much by her family and loved them in return.
Bernice and James C. "Jim." Crabtree, Jr. were married December 13, 1941, in Columbus, Kansas; he survives.
Additional survivors include her children and their spouses, James C. "J. C." and Martha Crabtree, Cold Spring, TX, Fred and Kathi Crabtree, Fayetteville, AR, Holly and Roger Stubbs, Broken Arrow, OK, and Max and Karen Crabtree, Springdale, AR; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Marvin Sherer, and a sister, Ola Mae Brogdon.
