Helen Lucille Whitten
Helen Lucille Whitten was born September 8, 1913 at Alma, Nebraska, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burton Willis.
She was united in marriage to Neal Whitten on December 29, 1940. One son, Sherrill Lee and one daughter, Lynn Ann, were born to them.
She passed away, January 24, 1957 at home in Minden, Nebraska, at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 16 days.
Helen will be missed by all, especially the older people and the children. She loved children and they loved her. She was never too tired or too busy to listen to them or to help them in some way or other. She was a faithful teacher of her Primary class in the Christian Church. Their lives have been blessed because they had been loved by her.
Helen was Den Mother for over three years in the Cub Scout work. Her home was always open for their meetings and as a "workshop" for the many projects with which she helped them.
As a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship it would be impossible to mention her many deeds of kindness and love. She loved her church and no task was too hard or too lowly for Helen to give her best in doing it. All the many little extra things she did we never will know, but all our lives have been made richer because of her. She will be missed by all and her place in the community will be hard to fill.
To her home and family, she was a loyal partner and a true mother.
Preceding her in death were her father, Burton Willis and one sister, Opal Willis.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Neal, one son, Sherrill, and one daughter, Lynn Ann. Her mother and step father, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wheeler of Kearney, Nebr., one brother, Harold Willis of Merna, Nebr., one sister, Mrs. Orvie Pettijohn of Medford, Oregon and many other relatives and friends.
