Mrs. Viola E. Nickerson, who for a number of years resided in the Ponckhockie section of Kingston, died at her home on Lampman Street in Port Ewen Sunday following a lengthy illness.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Clifford T. Finley, at home, one grandchild, Barbara Finley, one brother, Herbert A. Whitney, of Kingston, four sisters, Mrs. Andrew Stockholm, Miss Lillian and Miss Ethel Whitney of Poughkeepsie, and Mrs. Anna Tammany of this city.
Mrs. Nickerson was a member of the Ponckhockie Congregational Church and was very active in church affairs.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the late home on Lampman Street, in Port Ewen. The burial will take place in the family plot in the Montrepose Cemetery.

The funeral of Mrs. Viola E. Nickerson was held Wednesday from the late home on Lampman Avenue in Port Ewen, and was largely attended by friends from the surrounding community.
The Rev. George Berens of the Port Ewen Reformed Church and the Rev. I. Bond Brown, former pastor of the Ponckhockie Congregational Church officiated jointly at the services.
Many beautiful floral pieces were banked around the casket and gave visible evidence of the high esteem in which she was held.
Bearers were Raymond Lounsbury, Charles Neice, Harry VanOrmer and Edgar Wheeler. Burial took place in Montrepose Cemetery. The Rev. Mr. Berens and the Rev. Mr. Brown conducted services at the grave.
