John Dugan Tuck was born in Buchanan county Missouri to Joseph and Sarah Marie Hafner Tuck. His Mother was a Missouri Native. However his father immigrated here from Baden ,Germany. He eventually came to clay township and married Lucinda Pebley. After her death in 1872 he married Mary Eliza Thompson. Together they had 4 children William , Lulu, Ora, and Sarah. They lived on a small farm in Clay township until sometime in between 1880 and 1900. It appears as though they fell on some hard times, and moved in with there recently widowed daughter in Polk township. He worked the rest of his life as a farmhand.

John Tuck Dead-- John Tuck died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jacob Cavinee, on Sunday, June 23rd, at the age 65. Funeral services were held at the home, Monday morning, at ten o'clock, conducted by the Rev. E.C. Little of the United Presbyterian church. The body was taken to the Bush Cemetery, 12 miles southwest of Tarkio, for burial beside his wife, who died about a year ago from burns received in a lamp explosion."
