SOMERSET,PENNSYLVANIA -- Delbert Ross Valentine, 78, Somerset, died Dec. 4 at Somerset Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1920 in Cumberland, Md., a son of Henry Franklin and Irene
Margaret (Rephann) Valentine. Preceded in death by parents; first wife,
the former Mary Jane Otto, who died Sept. 20, 1978; son, Delbert R.
Valentine II; and granddaughter, Dalena Valentine. Survived by wife, Rena
L. (Knupp) Walters-Valentine and these children: Michael O. Valentine,
married to the former Janet Robb of Meyersdale; William H. Valentine and
fiance, Susan Lasure of Meyersdale; and Miss Tammy Kay Valentine of
Donegal; 4 grandchildren, Mrs. Joseph (Krista) Krause, Jennifer, Andrew and
Chelsea Valentine; stepchildren, Mrs. Anthony (Diana) Jano of Somerset, Mrs.
Lynn (Rita) Dietz of Somerset, Mrs. Joseph (Donna Lee) Jano of Somerset, and
Gary Walters, married to the former Lynette Miller; 18 step-grandchildren
and 35 step-great-grandchildren. Brother of Mrs. Marion Platter of
Cumberland, Md. Member of Grace United Methodist Church of Somerset. A
1939 graduate of Fort Hill High School, Cumberland, Md. Employed for G. A.
Largent and Associates, retiring in 1983. Friends received from 3-5 and 7-9
p.m., Tuesday at the Hauger- Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will
be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday at the Grace United Methodist Church,
Somerset, with the Rev. Charles F. Olson officiating. Interment, Rose Hill
Cemetery, Swanton, Md. Contributions may be made to the Grace United
Methodist Church, 320 Felgar Road, Somerset, Pa., 15501.
