Town Manager of Merrillville, IN, 2002-2004. Prior to that position, he served as Director of Administration in Lowell, IN; the Mayor's Administrative Assistant in Crown Point, IN; and press aide to Chicago Mayors Jane Byrne and Harold Washington. Outside of politics, he was an avid racing fan and often reported results in local newspapers.
The town manager of Merrillville, Ind., known for his honesty and ability to put people at ease, died Saturday in a car accident in northwest Indiana.
Rick Dal Corobbo, 52, was southbound in a town-owned 2002 Ford Explorer on Interstate Highway 65, about three miles south of Merrillville, when he came upon stopped traffic about 5:20 a.m., said Sgt. Richard Broughton of the Indiana State Police. Dal Corobbo slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer and died soon after arriving at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, Ind., Broughton said.
