"Daughter of the prominent Lebanese Christian family of Joseph and Sarah Deeb, who immigrated from Zahale, Lebanon. The family home at 214 S. Calhoun St. was later used as the first LeMoyne Art Gallery. She was a graduate of Leon High School, employed by the Industrial Commission of the state of Florida and retired as an unemployment compensation quality-control analyst for the Department of Labor and Security. She was a board member of the Florida Industrial Commission Credit Union. Miss Deeb was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was parish bookkeeper/secretary for many years, a Sunday school teacher and a member of Blessed Sacrament Women's Guild. She was known for her small pound cakes, freely given to friends and kind acquaintances. Miss Deeb is survived by her best friend and dear sister, Lena Joan Deeb; seven nephews, Roy Deeb (and wife Marilyn) of St. Petersburg, Dr. Robert Deeb of Titusville, George J. Demetree (and wife Ruth), Edward C. Deeno Kitchen (and wife Patty), Kent Deeb and Dr. Larry Deeb (and wife Jo), all of Tallahassee, and Dr. Deeb Paul Kitchen I of Fairfax Station, Va.; seven nieces, Juliette D. O'Connell (and husband Robert), Angela H. McCloy (and husband Jim), Marcia D. Thornberry (and husband Robert), Julia Carol Love (and husband Donald) and Sarah Lawson (and husband Joel), all of Tallahassee, Karen D. Slaughter of St. Petersburg and Angelina K. Bouda of Jacksonville; many great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and godchildren; and one namesake great-niece, Mary Sheldon Deeno Williams. Miss Deeb was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Michael J. Deeb, St. Petersburg builder George J. Deeb, well-known Tallahassee realtor and developer Charles H. Deeb, and Tallahassee entrepreneur and philanthropist Syde P. Deeb, ; three sisters, Julia D. Demetree, Lila D. Hanna and Rose A. Kitchen, one of the first 150 women lawyers in Florida; and two sisters, Louise and Philomena, who died as children." (from obituary in the Tallahassee Democrat; October 16, 2003
