Frederick William Lohmann, or Friedrich Wilhelm Lohmann, was the son of Johann Hermann Lohmann and Johanna Maria Anna Pohlmann. He was born in Schildesche, Westfalen, Germany. He was the first of the Lohmann family to emigrate, arriving at the port of New Orleans, November, 1851. He apparently traveled up the Mississippi River by steamboat. Frederick William was naturalized in Milwaukee Circuit Court, 15 October, 1868.
In 1865 he was living in Milwaukee when the local German-language newspaper printed a post office notice to Frederick notifying him to pick up a letter for him from Schildesche, Germany, or it would be returned to sender. On Nov. 25, 1866 at St. Martini's Lutheran Church in Milwaukee he was a baptismal sponsor for his infant nephew Frederick Lohman.
In the 1880 census he was living in the household of his nephew Henry Lohman. Frederick William was working as a carpenter in 1880. It is unknown whether Frederick William ever married or had children.
Frederick's gravestone is missing.
