When 12 years old the family moved to what is known as the Carrott neighborhood. When she grew to womanhood she taught school as a vocation.

She was married to Malcolm G. Bell, April 5, 1878, and after a few years moved to her country home near Nora Springs, where she reared her family moving to Mason City 26 years ago.

Six children were born to the couple, Mabel, Lulu, William, Malcolm and Merle. One baby died in infancy.

Her parents, husband, one daughter; Lulu A. Tourtellott, of Rockwell; one son, William of Nora Springs; four grandchildren; one brother, Oldham Carrott; three half-brothers and one sister, Sarah Milloy have preceded her in death.

Surviving her are Mable P. Albertson of Rockwell, Malcolm of Nora Springs; and Merle, at home; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two brothers; Buron and James Carrott of Rockford. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mason City.
