John Gotcher, Aged Resident, Dies Saturday
John Gotcher, aged resident, died Saturday evening at his home on 1924 Hamilton street, of old age and complications. Deceased was born in Alabama, January 14, 1849 and was at the of his death 82 years of age.
Mr. Gotcher is survived by the following children: Mrs. Anna Phillips, this city, Henry Gotcher, West Tulsa, Okla.: Sam Gotcher, East, St. Louis: Mrs. Amelia Sanford, East St. Louis: Jim Gotcher, Shelhyvile, Indiana: Mrs. Clara King, Detroit, Mich. And Mrs. Lon Ashford, St. Louis, Mo. and also 46 grand children and 38 great grand children.

John was the son of Henry C. Gotcher and Almarinda Gotcher. He married Sarah Lizzy Lipe on May 23, 1869 at Murphysboro, Jackson Co., Illinois. At the time of his death he was survived by seven children, 46 grand children and 38 great grand children. [This grave is unmarked!]
