Hazel Marie LeBlanc Owen, 88, formerly of Mexia, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in Corsicana. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 12, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Interment will be on Saturday, July 14, at Our Lady Of The Lake Cemetery in Delcambre, Louisiana.

Hazel was born in Erath, Louisiana, to the late John Joseph and Lydia Miguez LeBlanc. Prior to moving to Corsicana five years ago, she had lived in Mexia for over 50 years. Hazel married William Roy "Bill" Owen on September 26, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana. For 58 years, Hazel treasured the special friendship of Sue Thiele, now of Mexia, as they traveled the state of Texas while their husbands built highways. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her family. She was also an avid and ruthless canasta player which earned her the title of reigning "Canasta Queen" in her family.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brad William Owen; sisters, Mavely LeCompte and Anna Belle Waugespack; and brother, Mervin LeBlanc.

Hazel is survived by daughters, Joanie Teel, of Corsicana, and Kathleen Caldwell, of Huntsville; sons, Harry Rex Owen, of Ft. Worth, and John Gordon Owen III, of Payne Springs; grandchildren, Steven Teel, Amy Teel, John Owen IV, Stacy Kresge, John Doyal Caldwell; and many other relatives and numerous friends. X9
