Mrs. C. D. Banta Taken By Death
Mrs. Columbus D. Banta, who has been very sick at the St. Helena Sanitarium for the past few months, passed away there Tuesday night at about 7 o'clock. She had been ailing for a long time and her death was due to a complication of disorders.
Mrs. Banta, when a girl, was Miss Bertha Belle Jones, and had made her home in Calistoga for the past fifty-four years. She came here when a girl with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Jones, and had resided here ever since. She was born at White Rock, Ill., and was aged 64 years and 6 months.
The deceased is survived by her husband, a brother, Clarence H. Jones of Glendale, and two nieces, Mrs. Adele Platner of Spokane, Wash., and Alva Gibbons of Barstow, Calif. She was a retiring lady of a very pleasing personality and loved by every one who knew her.
The funeral will he held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the McArthur Funeral Home, and interment be made in the Calistoga cemetery.
Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend the services. Pall bearers will be L.E. Light, Frank Tamagni, Earl Fisher, Harry Coulter, T.C. Adams and W. W. Kortum.
