Son of John & Catherine (Kaipust) Zakrzewski.
He attended Districts #31 and #64 school in Platte County. On April 29, 1961 he was united in marriage to Marie Stec at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church - Krakow, rural Genoa. The couple lived and farmed south of Lindsay, Nebraska until 1967 when Phil retired and moved to Monroe. While in Monroe he was a member of the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department and also coached Little League baseball. He was a member of St. Rose Of Lima Church in Genoa, past member of the Holy Name Society, Knights Of Columbus Genoa Council, and the Eagles Aerie #1834 in Columbus. Phil enjoyed playing softball, fishing, bowling, and playing cards. He was awarded the Good Neighbor Award of Aksarben.
