James Melville, the husband of the late Eleanor Robinson, died at his home at 136 Chestnut Street in Montclair.

There are censuses with some conflicting information about him. There is a 1910 US Census that seems to have the right family but has him born 1868 (aged 42 at the time) and he's a chef while the 1915 NY Census has him born 1865 (aged 50) and a butcher. Until more information is uncovered, it's unclear whether these two censuses are for the right guy and are just overwhelmed with contradictions.

According to the 1920 census, he was living in NJ and was a restaurant proprietor. From 1937 to 1938 (according to Newark City directories) he was living in Newark but was a chef in New York. The 1942 Newark City Directory lists him as a restaurant worker. His death certificate says he was a retired butcher and was in the restaurant business and that his business name was James Daly.

His death certificate says his father's name is Michael Melville and mother's name was Jane. I think his father is Michael Melville and his sister is Jane Melville. Jane's obituary says she has a brother James H. Melville of Newark, NJ. James was living in Newark, NJ at the time. James' death certificate says his mother's name is not Mary but Jane, which I think could be a mistake - perhaps his daughter (the informant) got confused between James' mother's name and his sister's name.

Inscription

The plot card lists the interment date for Jennie Koehler as Jan. 21, 1970. It also lists Henry Koehler (her husband) interred on April 22, 1927 and James Melville (her father) interred on June 8, 1951.

It is unclear where Eleanor Robinson Melville (his wife) is buried or when she died although it had to be before 1951 as James' obit says she had predeceased him.
