According to the 1920 census, he and his family were living in Newark, Essex County, NJ and he was a superintendent for a manufacturing company.
He died in April 1927 and was buried in Hollywood Cemetery on April 22, 1927.

The plot card lists the interment date for Jennie Koehler as Jan. 21, 1970. It also lists Henry Koehler (her husband) interred on April 22, 1927 and James Melville (her father) interred on June 8, 1951.
