Wesley Franklin Valentine was born August 5, 1835, in Clear Creek Township, Fairfield County, Ohio, the 5th of 16 children of Noah and Mary Elizabeth Conrad Valentine. On September 5, 1856, in Fairfield County, he married Elizabeth E. Avis, daughter of David and Elizabeth Lantz Avis. By 1880, the family had migrated to Vermilion County, Illinois. Wesley and Elizabeth were the parents of 7 children: William Allen, Charles F., David Henry, Ida May, Daniel J., Minnie Cora and Milton Valentine. Wesley passed away October 16, 1917, in Danville, Vermilion County, and was buried on the 19th in Hicks Cemetery, Perrysville, Vermillion County, Indiana.
