Natalie Syms, 70, of Wilkes-Barre, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 14, 2007, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born July 29, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Vladimir and Anna Bugel Konstantinovich.
She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School. She served in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
She married John Joseph Syms on 4 June 1960.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed for 36 years in the Wilkes-Barre school system as a teacher assistant. She belonged to the school's Sunshine Club.
Natalie enjoyed traveling and particularly loved cruises. She was talented in crocheting and knitting.
She was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Syms and brother John Konstantinovich.
She is survived by her sons, John J. Syms Jr., at home, Michael W. Syms and his wife, Jennifer, of Plains, and Roger A. Syms and his wife, Denise, of Wilkes-Barre; daughter Joyce M. Serafin and her husband, James, of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren Rebecca, the twins Matt and John, Lindsey, Shane and Natalie Grace Syms, Lauren, Kayla and Taylor Serafin; sister Marie Degnon and her husband, Jerry, of Laflin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home Inc., 136 Maffett St., Plains, with Archpriest Joseph Martin, officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Parastas will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart Association, or to the SPCA of Luzerne County.
