Eileen Lenore Mitchell, 79, Merkel, Texas, died Monday, January 5, 2004, at a Texas hospital. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Chapel, I-435 & Holmes Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; entombment will be at Faith Mausoleum in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Eileen was born March 7, 1924, in Allendale, Missouri, to Ralph and Stella Marie Findlay Wood.
She graduated from Grant City, Missouri, High School and attended college at St. Joseph, Missouri.
She married Clyde Henry Mitchell on January 30, 1945, in San Francisco, California. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2000.
Eileen worked for the Environmental Protection Agency in Kansas City for 15 years, retiring in 1986. She moved to Merkel, Texas, in 1999 and was a member of the Merkel First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Sidney Ralph Mitchell and wife, Cindi, of Louisburg, Kansas; a daughter, Marla Sue Flint and husband, Billy, of Merkel, Texas; two sisters, Lee Green and husband, Jim, of Independence, Missouri, Kathleen Eckerd and husband, Rex, of Stanberry, Missouri; nine grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren.
