Jacob Firor was the son of Henry Firor and Anna Maria Weigle. On April 15, 1820, in Frederick County, Maryland, he married Magdalena Valentine, Daughter of Jacob and Anna Mary Freeze Valentine. They were the parents of 7 children: Victor Milton, Sylvester Valentine, Anna Louise, Mary Amanda, infant son (twin to William Albert), William Albert and Josiah Edwin Firor. Around 1850, the family moved to Pickaway County, Ohio. Jacob passed away on November 19, 1865, in Saltcreek Township, Pickaway County, Ohio, and was buried in Forest Cemetery in Circleville, Pickaway County, Ohio.

Death notice for Jacob Firor from the Circleville Union of November 24, 1865:
"DIED. In this place on the 18th inst., JACOB FIROR, aged sixty-eight years, two months and sixteen days. Early in life, he was instructed in the doctrine of our holy religion, and became a member of the German Reformed Church, of which until death he remained a consistent and faithful member. He was a native of Frederick County, Maryland, where, as well as in Ohio, he enjoyed the confidence of his fellow citizens, and occupied positions of honor and trust, both of a civil and religious character."
