SURGOINSVILLE – Emma Jean Slemp Rutledge, 72, of Surgoinsville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Bristol Hospice House, Bristol, TN.
Emma spent the majority of her life in Hawkins County, TN. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Rutledge; parents, Irvine and Mary Crawford Slemp; one sister; and four brothers.
She is survived by her son, Randy Gilreath and wife, Chassie of Rogersville, TN; four sisters, Nellie Duncan, Shirley Wallace, Judy Slemp, and Mary Bailey; three brothers, Jimmy Slemp, Ralph Slemp and Billy Slemp; along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call anytime at the residence of 373 Lauren Drive in Rogersville.
A graveside service will be held 1 pm on Wednesday January 13, 2010 at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery with Evangelist Pat Hammond officiating. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Verlin Gilreath, Nicholas Gilreath, Adam Gilreath, and Chuck Ward.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedysis Hospice Services of Kingsport and Bristol Hospice House.
