Father Gibbons served as pastor in Elmira c1894-1896, and remodeled the parochial residence, and practically built a new house for the priest's dwelling. He next served at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, Niagara Falls, then at St. Mary, Medina, where he died of Brights (Kidney) disease.
Father Gibbons had a younger brother, Rev. Edmund Gibbons who was assigned as his assistant pastor at St. Mary, and who eventually became the Bishop of Albany, New York.
