Rev. Nicholas A. Gibbons attended Our Lady of the Angels Seminary, Niagara University and completed his studies in Italy and in 1880 was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Buffalo, New York, in Italy.
Father Gibbons served as pastor in Elmira c1894-1896, and remodeled the parochial residence, and practically built a new house for the priest's dwelling. He next served at St. Mary of the Cataract Church, Niagara Falls, then at St. Mary, Medina, where he died of Brights (Kidney) disease.
Father Gibbons had a younger brother, Rev. Edmund Gibbons who was assigned as his assistant pastor at St. Mary, and who eventually became the Bishop of Albany, New York.
