CHARLES EDGAR BLACK, SR.
Of 209 East First Street, Williamsburg, died at 1:50 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 17, 1900, at Williamsburg, a son of William and Sarah (Cartwright) Black, and was married Jan. 15, 1920, to Miss Elverta Snare at the Methodist parsonage at Williamsburg by Rev. H. T. Covert.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Charles E., Jr., and Kenneth Leon, of Williamsburg and Donald William in the navy, three daughters, Mrs. Betty K. Zimmerman of Williamsburg, Janet Mae and Judith Ann, at home; two brothers, Roy of Akron, O., and Arthur of Altoona; one sister, Mrs. Cecil Parks of Williamsburg, and three grandchildren.
He was a member of the Williamsburg Methodist Church and the UFA of the CIO. He was an employee of the West Virginia Pulp & Paper company for 36 years.
Friends will be received at the Bechtel Funeral Home, Williamsburg, after 7 o'clock this evening.
BLACK – Funeral services for Charles Edgar Black, Sr., of 209 East First Street, Williamsburg, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Bechtel Funeral Home, Williamsburg, in charge of Rev. L. V. Lesher. Interment in Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.
