Thomas Brady Jr., 82 of Winston-Salem, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Springwood Care Center.
He was born to Ruth Spurgeon and Thomas Brady Caudle, Sr. on August 20, 1924, Winston-Salem Forsyth, North Carolina.
Mr. Caudle married Aritice Artance Johnston on Oct 7, 1946. He was a member of Grace Baptist Temple, where he was active for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served with Headquarters Company Second Rangers Battalion. He was wounded while serving in action and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Eamet Campaign Medal with five Bronze service Stars and the Good Conduct Medal, while serving in Normandy, Nothern France and Central Europe. He received the Presidential Citation for gallantry.
Mr. Caudle retired from Douglas Battery Company where he served as battery division salesman for 39 years.
He is preceded in death by his Parents; his wife, Atrice Johnston Caudle; and a son, Michael Thomas Caudle.
Surviving are his son, Robert Patrick Caudle and wife Carla of Connecticut; his daughter, Janice Marie Caudle of Willoughby, Ohio; three grandchildren, Sarah Caudle of Willoughby, Ohio, Brieann Caudle and Brittany Caudle, both of Orlando, Florida; four brothers, Oscar Caudle and wife Frances of Winston-Salem, Cecil Caudle and wife Judy of Rural Hall, Ray Caudle and wife Ruth of Clemmons, and Roger Caudle and wife Barbara of King; seven sisters, Margaret Wood, Evelyn Holder and husband Ray, Florence Gibson, all of Winston-Salem; and 23 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at Grace Baptist Temple at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 22 with the Rev. Ed Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park, with full military rites by the Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church before the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Temple, 3305 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem. NC 27127. A special thanks to all the wonderful help that Mr. Caudle received from the staff at Springwood Care Center during his stay there.
