OBITUARY: Shreveport Times, Shreveport LA, 12 Aug 1997
Shreveport – Funeral services for Bessie Newman McBroom, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 1997, at the Wellman Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Tettleton officiating. Assisting will be G.B. Futch. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery. Funeral home visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 12. Mrs. McBroom passed away Monday, August 11, 1997 at the Spring Lake Guest Care following a brief illness. She was born in Castor, La., and had been a lifelong resident of the Shreveport area. She was a retired LPN and member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eunice S. Newman and second husband, Clarence H. McBroom; one son and one grandchild. She is survived by one son, Shellie Newman and wife, Penny; one daughter, Jean Walden and husband, Billy; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and a special niece, Pauline Brewster. Pallbearers will be Billy Walden, Keith Walden, Mike Newman, Russell Newman, Chris Baker, and Bob Melton. A special thanks to the staff of Spring Lake Guest Care, and Hospice Management Care for their loving care and kindness.
