Ernest J. Badaracco Jr., who recently celebrated his 81st birthday, passed away on June 29, 2012, at home, with his family at his side. The Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul R.C. Church in Hoboken, N.J. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, N.J. The family will welcome friends on Sunday, July 1, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Failla Memorial Home, 533 Willow Ave., Hoboken, N.J. Valet parking is available in rear of memorial home, off Sixth Street. Ernest was a partner with his father at Badaracco Brothers Electrical Contracting in Hoboken; he was also a past president of the Elysian Federal Savings Bank and the current president of EJB Electrical Consultant, Inc. He served on the Joint Apprentice Board of I.B.E.W. Local 164 for several years. Ernest was elected the "Italian Man of the Year" by the Italian Club of Jersey City. He was a past president of the Hudson County Savings League and a member of the N.E.C.A., the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, Hoboken Chapter, and the New York Athletic Club. He served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1953. Ernest attended Sts. Peter & Paul Elementary School, Seton Hall Preparatory, and the Newark College of Engineering. He had his pilot licenses and enjoyed flying often. Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Ernest Sr. and Rose (nee Caruso); his wife, Barbara Ann (nee Beronio), and his son, John Benedict. He is survived by his wife, Rita A. (nee McKeever), along with his daughter and four sons, Ernest III and Jane of Colts Neck, N.J.; daughter, Jeanmarie of Wood-Ridge, N.J.; Victor and Maureen of Bayonne, N.J.; Joseph and Michelle of Colorado, and David and Cheryl of Howell, N.J. He had 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ernest had a sister, Dr. Marie R. Badaracco-Apolito of Montclair, N.J., and a brother-in-law and wife, James and Eileen McKeever of Englewood, N.J. He had many loving nieces and nephews as well. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Seton Hall Preparatory Alumni Association, 120 Northfield Ave., South Orange, N.J.
