Obituary:
Wilburn Morris Vannater, 86, of McConnell, died Monday at Logan General Hospital.

He was born Sept. 8, 1908, at Rector in Lincoln County, the son of the late George Summers and Mary Alice Toney Vannatter.

Vannatter was also preceded in death by his first wife, Wilmeta Hankins Vannatter.

He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Central United Baptist Church of Logan, Gideon, past president of Coal Miner's Pensioners, past president of the local chapter of AARP, past president of the Senior Citizens of W.Va., a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Lodge #274, past district deputy Grand Master of W.Va., past district deputy Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment of W.Va., past Colonel in Canton Lodge and he received the Grand Decoration of Chivalry, the highest honor obtained by the Odd Fellows.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Adkins Maynard Vannatter; two daughters, Helen Jean Bannister of White's Addition and Patricia Ann Ross of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sons, Louis Edward Vannatter of Medina, Texas, Wilburn Vannatter II of Holden and William Wesley Vannatter of Monaville; one step-son, Lee Maynard of Man; 30 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Central United Baptist Church of Logan with Rev. Glenn White, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. today at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan and one hour prior to services at the church.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honaker Funeral Home in Logan is in charge of arrangements.
