Herb was born on November 16, 1918, to Herbert and Claudia Baker Cohron. He was a member of First Christian Church where he had served as Deacon and Treasurer. He was faithful in his attendance as long as his health would allow.
Herb was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran where he served as Staff Sargent in the Detachment Medical Department. Upon leaving the military in 1942, he used his G.I. Bill to attend Lockyear's Business College in Evansville, Indiana, where he obtained a degree in Accounting. For most of his career, he worked for Municipal Power and Light as Office Manager where he retired in 1981 with 27 years of service. He enjoyed watching sports with St. Louis Cardinals being a favorite.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Doris J. Cohron; four brothers; and one sister.
Herb loved his family and is survived by his only child, Kathy Strange and her husband, Talbert; one grandson, Brent Jacobs and his wife, Amber; and two great grandchildren, Isaiah and Aubrie. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Dr. Chuck Summers will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
