Samuel Gramlich was the son of Alois Gramlich and Matilda Watkins. His father was born in Germany, sailed for America in 1846, and settled in Illinois where he met and married Matilda Watkins. Alois and Matilda had eleven children. Samuel was born at Bellevue, Nebraska Territory.
Samuel married Edith Almira Trumble on 14 Sep 1880 at Bellevue, Nebraska. Edith was born in Bellevue in 1861, before the state of Nebraska was admitted to the Union.
Samuel and Matilda had the following (known) children: Matilda, Abner W, Ruth (died age 1M), Alice Maud (Frazeur), Alois T, Cordelia (Borman), Frederick, Barbara (Calaway), Edith, Mary, Mattie, Samuel (died age 6M), Alma E (died age 2 weeks), and an infant daughter who died age 1 week.
For many years Samuel was associated with the Fairview Methodist Episcopal church. He was known throughout his entire community as a farmer and Shorthorn breeder.
Edith died in 1944 at the age of 82 years. Samuel died in 1942 at the age of 86 years 10 months.
