Mary Bowel, 89, of 555 E. Liberty St. died Monday in her home.
She was a native of Wilson, N.C., and the widow of Abraham Bowel. She was a member of St. Benedict the Moon Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Alpine Lewis and Thelma Powell, both of Norfolk; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in Pretlow's Funeral Chapel by the Rev. W.A. Moseley. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

An almost identical obit was in the July 27th issue of the paper. The decedent's name was given as Alpine Lewis (obviously in error), the husband's name was given as Abraham Dowes. Cemetery records are for Mary Bowel, however name on tombstone is Mary Dawes.
