Nancy was the daughter of Frederick Craun and Sarah (Fleshman) Craun of Staunton, Augusta County, Virginia. On December 20, 1852 she married Christian Landes and migrated with him first to Paris, Edgar County, Illinois, then on to the Deepwater area, Henry County, Missouri. Their son James Lee and then their daughter Augusta Virginia passed away there, and then Christian himself, after which time Nancy continued on with her sons Harve and Charley and daughter Clara Belle (with her infant Bessie) to Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas. The men got jobs on the Collins Ranch outside Eureka, and Nancy Rebecca and Clara Belle took in washing and ironing in town until they, too, got hired on at the Collins Ranch. Charley returned to Henry County, Missouri and settled there, and after Clara Belle married and settled in Greenwood County, Kansas, Nancy Rebecca joined her son Harve in his travels to Montana and North Dakota.

August 23, 1914. Rev E. Lewis Wall officiated. The choir sang two beautiful selections. Her son W.H. Landes and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren were present, the other children detained at their homes in other states. The deceased was a member of the Christian denomination.
