"MORRIS - Lysander Winton, a life-long resident of Morris, passed away at his home on Lake street about 11 o'clock Saturday night after an illness of less than an hour. Although not in good health, Mr. Winton had been usually active of late and his death came as a shock to his friends. Lysander Winton, only child of Amasa and Cynthia (Foote) Winton, was born on the Winton farm near the village October 2, 1861. His mother died at his birth and he went to live with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Foote, where he grew to manhood. March 4, 1884, he married Miss Anna Dilworth of Morris, who died in May, 1933. To them was born one daughter, Ethel Winton, now Mrs. Maurice Covert, a valued teacher in the Peekskill schools ... He was affectionately known by young and old as 'Sandy.' Immediate surviving relatives are the daughter, Mrs. Maurice Covert, of Peekskill, and several cousins, Chester Winton of Binghamton, Mrs. Stewart Millard of Oneonta; Henry Foote of Norwich, and Stephen Foote, Mrs. Nellie Reeve and Miss Gertrude Foote of Morris, to all of whom sincere sympathy will be extended. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. L. Curtis Denney, rector, were held in Zion church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which the body was placed in Hillington cemetery vault, pending burial in the spring."
