Born Oct. 19, 1918, in Westminster, Mr. Hahn was a son of the late Oscar B. and Beatrice (Everhart) Hahn.
Mr. Hahn was a member of Keysville Lutheran Church, and a former member of the church council. He was also a member of Edwin C. Creager Post 168, American Legion, Thurmont, and Memorial Post 6658, VFW, Emmitsburg.
Mr. Hahn served with the 32nd Armored Regiment, U.S. Army during World War II. He participated in campaigns in Normandy, Northern France and Africa. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Award, American Defense Service Medal, European, African and Middle Eastern Service medals.
After the war, he and his uncle operated Baker's Gas Station, Thurmont, until 1948 when he accepted a position as a painter at Fort Detrick. He retired from Fort Detrick as foreman of the paint shop in 1970.
Besides his wife, Mr. Hahn is survived by three sons, Paul V. Hahn Jr. and Ted E. Hahn, both of Thurmont, and Philip E. Hahn, Gordonsville, Va.; five grandchildren, Jason Hahn, Jeremy Hahn and Timothy Hahn, all of Thurmont, Christopher Hahn and Miss Jesica Hahn, both of Gordonsville, Va.; one brother, Charles Hahn, Union Bridge.
Friends may call at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont, from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday, May 25, and from noon - 9 p.m. Sunday, May 26. The family will receive friends from 7-9 both evenings at the funeral home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 27, at the funeral home. Mr. Hahn's pastor, the Rev. James M. Russell, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthave Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
