Aviation Pioneer. He was an early motorcyclist, pioneer aircraft designer, manufacturer and racer who demonstrated the first official public one-kilometer flight in 1908. That flight would later earn him pilot's license Number One. He invented the first pontoon and flying boat aircraft, making him the father of naval aviation. (bio by R. Ettington).
