Mrs. J. Welch Succumbs After Long Illness

Death ended the sufferings of Mrs. J. Welch at her home in Bazile Mills on Tuesday morning at 6:30 following a lingering illness. Her passing was attributed to cancer of the hand. The deceased had received the best of medical skill from various specialists but to no avail and her soul went out to the great Redeemer.

Catharine Ann Rodgers was born in Dallas County, Iowa on September 25, 1855 and died on April 15, 1930 at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 20 days.

Her childhood was spent in Dallas county and at the age of eighteen years, she was united in marriage to John Welch. This union was blessed with twelve children, one girl dying in infancy and three sons, Isaac, passing on at the age of thirty five, John at the age of 30 and Clarence was killed in the world war at the age of twenty five.

The surviving children are three sons, Oscar and George of Bazile Mills and Roy of Middle River, Minn. and five daughters, Mrs. M. Rogers of Arapahoe, Colo., Mrs. Susie Beveridge, Commerce, Ia., Mrs. Ida Davey, Illag, Minn., Mrs. Florence Vacik of Lodgepole, Nebr. and Mrs. Anna Getz of O'Neill.

In 1905 her husband was called by death in Iowa and the family moved from that state to Brunswick, Nebr. in 1906, where they resided until their removal to Center. In May of 1910 Mrs. Welch moved to Bazile Mills and lived there up to this time with the exception of two years, when she resided in Creighton.

Mrs. Welch made many friends during her residence in this community and was known for her kindly acts and deeds. Her passing is mourned by a great many friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 o'clock from the Methodist church, with Rev. Benj. Kuhler officiating. The body will be interred in the Greenwood cemetery.

The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their sad hour of deep grief. The News extends condolences to those bereaved.
