Funeral services for John Deerson, who passed away in an Omaha hospital March 20, were conducted at the Christ Lutheran Church, Bazile Mills, on Thursday, April 2. The Rev. Bernard Corentz, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Creighton. Pallbearers were Alvin Schuett, Fred Bohren Jr., William Lane, John Mathine, Cyrus Crandall and Harald P. Andersen. The church choir sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Abide with Me."
Mr. Deerson suffered a fall recently and died of complications a few days later.
John Henry Deerson was born on Aug. 16, 1882, at Grant Park, Ill. On Feb. 18 1904 he was married to Frieda Snyder. They came to Winnetoon and farmed until 1918. They moved to Illinois for five years, but returned again to resume farming near Winnetoon in 1923.
Several years ago they retired and moved into Creighton. When their health failed they moved to Omaha to be near their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fricke.
Mr. Deerson was received into Christ Lutheran Church by the rite of confirmation on April 8 1941.
He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Fricke, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
