Lizzie married Edward Carl "Ed" Boerckel in September of 1909. He was a butcher in Madison County, Illinois, and they were the parents of 1 child. For a time, Lizzie's brother, Henry Moerlein, lived with the family and worked as a riverboat pilot.
By the 1910's, Ed also owned and operated a gasoline station on Main Street in Venice, Illinois.
One of Lizzie's sister, Sadie Moerlein, was seriously ill for a number of years. Sadie lived with Lizzie's family until her death in 1941.
Ed died on 29 Jul 1945, and Lizzie passed away 5 years later at the age of 74. She was survived by her daughter, Jessie; 1 brother, Peter Moerlein; and 2 sisters, Kunie Nokle and Carrie Moerlein.
Despite the fact that Lizzie was 1 of 10 children born to Peter and Mary Moerlein, her daughter, Jessie, was Peter and Mary's only grandchild.
