MURPHYSBORO — Services for Fred P. Bierer, 73, of 2039 Pine St., Murphysboro, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Murphysboro. Burial will be in the Murphysboro City Cemetery.

Mr. Bierer died Tuesday, May 14, 1985, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.

He was retired from the Farmer's Home Administration. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Murphysboro, where he served as a deacon and treasurer. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 572, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7190 and American Legion Post 127, all of Murphysboro: he was also a former trustee of the Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was born Jan. 14, 1912, in Murphysboro, to Frederick G. and Nellie Peirson Bierer.

He married Pauline Gower Nov. 29, 1936, in Bardwell, Ky. She died March 12, 1981.

Survivors include two sons, Fred G. of Murphysboro, and Robert W., of Rock Springs, Wyo.; two daughters, Marilyn Sue Wolfe of Carl Junction, Mo., and E. Joanne Hinkle of Lake City, Fla., and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the Crawshaw Mortuary in Murphysboro, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Murphysboro.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the First Christian Church in Murphysboro, or to the donor's choice.
