From James F. Lippincott's Civil War service pension file we find he had lost his first wife, Jane Vance, who died in March of 1911. Lillian A. Joy purportedly was the widow of one James L. Kerr who she stated she had married in about 1884. She stated he died in Independence, MO in December of 1899 and that he was not a veteran. She then married James F. Lippincott in Kearney, Buffalo County, Nebraska. on September 1, 1911 and they lived together in Independence until her death in 1915.
From her Missouri Death Certificate #16002 it is indicated that she was married; and that her father was Edward M. Joy and her mother was Almeria Stoughton Joy. The informant for that certificate was J. F. Lippincott of Independence, MO. He was also listed as the owner of the lot in which she rests.
